Saturday, May 5, 2012 is the 138th run of the Kentucky Derby (click) in Louisville among three year old Thoroughbred horses, the first leg of The Triple Crown. What we have here is a lot of history: pomp and circumstance: fashion, food, dust and gambling from a simple two minute race for a blanket of red roses to the winning horse.
FASHION: Women have a few options to wear a pastel colored suit or frilly dress, dressy heels with a slender pair of flats tucked into her bag for the ride home and the de rigueur decorated sun hat (click). Men, your options are again pastel colors, Madras sports coat (click) or blue Blazer, seersucker (click), khakis and a straw hat such as a trilby (click).
