Vintage Fashion Expo (click) is back in San Francisco-
Looking for unique treasures for your body? No doubt you will find whatever your heart desires for men and women. Vintage Fashion Expo was born in 1980 when there was only one show in the country located in Massachusetts. One year later SF Vintage Fashion Expo became the largest vintage clothing and accessories fair in the country and continues to hold this title. You will find clothes, furs, shoes, hats, handbags, jewelry, eyeglasses and many other trinkets from the most recent 125 years of fashion. That goes back to the Victorian era (click). 75 to 100 vendors are on hand during the two-day show so give yourself a couple hours of worthwhile "digging".Vendors and some patrons attend in period clothing making the event even more festive. Sign up for their newsletter and receive a $2.00 off coupon towards admission.
This is not a flea market. You will find all major designers such as Chanel, Halston, YSL, Gucci, Versace and other names such as Ray-Ban. I have purchased from past visits a great pair of cat's-eye sunglasses from Kristi Alvarez of Vintage Blue Moon (click), some fur collars for my coats and sweaters and varioius pieces of costume jewelry. But one of my favorite merchants is The Tie Merchant (click) from Ketrin Earwood. I have found a mink bow tie (click) for my husband and a little known men's item from the 1950's and 1960's...the Peek-A-Boo Tie. A Peek-A-Boo Tie is an ordinary everyday cravatte with a portrait of a bikini clad beauty or a gorgeous nudie (click). They make great birthday gifts. The better ones were actually hand painted. You have to ask Ketrin to pull them out of the back but she loves to show them-
