You Might Be Missing These

July 2012:
You may have been left behind at the gate early but there is still time left for you to  update your fashion accessories for 2012.

Sunglasses have long been a fashion staple in varying degrees of popularity. Today even more so as a relatively affordable bit of luxury using your economy . So carefully wrap your classic Ray Ban Aviators and put them in a safe place to wear another day. How about Tom Ford’s ‘Daphne’ extreme cat eyes, or the Barton Perriera ‘Chanteuse’ flavor of the 90’s fade with a sprinkling of snake skin design for today?
This year when we talk about bags, size matters! We are going small this year with the choice towards a clutch. I like these two selections because they behave as a clutch, but with an easier way to keep your fingers from going numb. The Lacoste has a handy strap seen here in green that is both decorative and functional in ensuring your clutch remains wrapped around your wrist even if your fingers take a snooze. Proenza Schouler may have it right. Their design is a tote with handgrip handles, the top softly folds over into a clutch for date night. And if your busy lifestyle dictates a backpack everyday my vote goes to Tory Burch for their dual purpose flirty fringe tote or stylish blowing-in-the-wind pack, see the shoulder straps?
There are hundreds and hundreds and millions of belts. On rare occasion I will purchase a belt to dress up one outfit, and only one outfit. As a general rule however invest in two belts that are classic in design, long wearing in craftsmanship and in two colors: 1-black and 1-brown. Most people alternate between their go-to everyday black and brown kicks even if all you wear are UGGs. My two examples here are Ralph Lauren double buckle tooled black leather that may be worn both casually and dress up; Motif 56 has this smooth grain brown leather belt that would look great cinching a crisp white cotton tunic for summer or belt your favorite winter cardigan.
If you like wearing fashion jewelry and want to stay up to date with the latest designs here are four ideas to inspire you. A little bling to grace your face, J Crew offers a colorful, sparkling rhinestone extended length choker. Chain link in non-traditional materials is really HOT with this tortoise inspired resin double layer link necklace also from J Crew.
Cocktail rings from the 1960’s have drifted out from the cold night air and into the day light. Therefore they are now called statement rings. Turquoise is back in the fashion spotlight not only as a natural stone to be worn as jewelry but also apparel color. Colleen Lopez of Home Shopping Network (HSN) fame has her design of a bold turquoise and black resin statement ring. Remember the “Knuckle Ring”? Goth does not have to be Goth anymore.  BCBG has their sparkly knuckle ring covered in rhinestones that I quite like. This one may be on my wish list-
Honorable mention-
I saw a pair of diamond stud earrings posted on Pinterest.com that are absolutely killer. Diamond studs you say? Please don’t stop reading here. These are actual rough diamond stones mounted on precious metal for well under $200 bucks designed by Alexis Russell. (Pictured at top)
